Overview
Responsible for leading the overall operations and success of an art gallery as a Business head. This role has a strong focus on nurturing relationships with clients and artists, playing a pivotal role in connecting artists and collectors, thereby contributing to sales, fostering a vibrant art community, and driving the gallery's success.
Sanchit Art aims to create a platform to show contemporary European art in India, conceptualized to showcase the treasures of Indian art across the world. Established in 2010 by entrepreneur and art collector Sunil Joshan, it has set the benchmark in India and abroad for the quality of works on display, mix of artists, and sheer choice in the number of works shown. Led by Sanchit Joshan as CEO and Gallery Director, Sanchit Art now operates two galleries in India, one in Agra and the other in Delhi.

Key Responsibilities
- Client & Partner Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential key clients, including collectors, art enthusiasts, corporate clients, and institutions. Provide excellent customer service and personalized attention, addressing inquiries promptly. Actively engage with clients to understand their preferences and collecting goals, offering expert advice on artwork selection and investment opportunities. Organize and oversee client events, exhibitions, and private viewings.
- Exhibition & Event Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive schedule of exhibitions, events, and programs aligned with the gallery's strategic vision. Coordinate with artists, curators, and stakeholders for successful planning and execution, ensuring smooth logistics, high-quality presentation (installation, lighting, signage, security). Continuously evaluate success, identify areas for improvement, and drive innovation by incorporating visitor feedback and market trends.
- Artist Management & Curation: Identify, recruit, and nurture relationships with emerging and established artists (local and international), ensuring a diverse and compelling portfolio. Collaborate with artists to curate and plan exhibitions, ensuring presentation and promotion align with their artistic vision. Work closely with the gallery's marketing team to promote artists and exhibitions through various channels (social media, email marketing, advertising). Foster an environment where artists feel valued and inspired.
- Sales & Revenue Generation: Drive sales and revenue growth by actively promoting artwork, leveraging existing relationships, and developing new business opportunities. Set sales targets and strategies to achieve them, monitoring performance and implementing corrective measures. Negotiate and finalize sales transactions, ensuring proper documentation, pricing, invoicing, and payment processes. Oversee collaboration with the marketing and communications team to develop effective promotional campaigns and digital strategies.
- Team Leadership & Management: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to gallery staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop custom proposals, presentations, content writing, research, and marketing materials. Foster a culture of creativity, professionalism, and continuous learning, encouraging staff development and growth. Provide clear direction, set performance expectations, empower the team, handle conflicts, and facilitate open communication.
- Strategic Planning & Art Market Awareness: Contribute to developing a long-term vision and strategy for the gallery, aligned with market trends and organizational mission. Set achievable goals and priorities, creating action plans. Adapt strategies in response to changing market dynamics. Monitor progress toward goals and make strategic adjustments. Demonstrate a genuine passion for art, keeping abreast of the latest trends, artists, and developments in the art market. Conduct research on pricing, valuation, and demand, and analyze competitor activities.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
- Education: MBA / PGDBM in Marketing or Operations / MA in Arts / MFA.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience, preferably in the art or Home Décor industry.
